Who Is the WTIC

The WITC, or Water Information Technology Committee, is the PNWS’ one-stop shopping place for all-things data-management related. Here are some of the things we do:

  1. Assist the Executive Director and Board of Directors in managing the PNWS internet web site;
  2. Assist the Executive Director and Board of Directors in managing the PNWS intranet web sites;
  3. Provide intranet assistance and training to all PNWS members, which includes Subsection and Committee officers;
  4. Assist in the data and information management needs for PNWS training workshops, forums, and conferences;
  5. Coordinate data-management related training for PNWS members, such as in the following example topic areas –
    – Data collection development and management
    – Data mining
    – Executive data dashboarding

Purpose:  The goal is to equip water purveyors with current available technologies in order to improve their day-to-day operations and to disseminate information on risks and vulnerabilities with technologies.

Mission:  One way to do it is to educate, by providing technical training for water operators responsible in managing their infrastructure. Topics covered: GIS and its components and advantages to the industry, Finance and administrative components, Cybersecurity and the unknowns in the tech world, disconnect between IT departments and operations, and cloud computing.
