Coos Bay-North Bend Water Board is located on the Southern Oregon Coast where recreational opportunities and beautiful scenery abound, providing a quality living and working environment. The Water Board serves a total customer base of 13,600 accounts.
The Water Treatment Plant Supervisor leads the Water Treatment Section under the general supervision of the Operations Manager. The Water Treatment Plant Supervisor exercises full supervision of employees in the Water Treatment Section, manages the operations and maintenance of a 12 MGD surface supply conventional treatment plant; manages watershed and wellfield water quality through development and implementation of source water protection/wellhead protection plans; manages operation of utility’s water quality laboratory for quality control and compliance analysis; assumes fiscal responsibility by participating in the preparation of and operating within an approved annual budget.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED: Five years progressively responsible experience in water treatment plant operation and maintenance, graduation from a senior high school or GED and an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, environmental studies or related field.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; ability to secure State of Oregon Grade III Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate within 1 year of hire; experience and education suitable to qualify under Oregon Health Authority rules as Technical Director of the Water Board’s state certified microbiological laboratory.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, environmental studies or related field; Oregon Grade III Treatment Plant Operator Certification at time of hire; experience with computerized maintenance management programs and Microsoft application software.
