Heights Water, a private non-profit mutual water association on Vashon Island, WA, is seeking a Water System Operator. Regular work schedule is 32 hours per week with overtime eligibility after 40 hours. Additional compensation for daily on-call duty on a rotating schedule.  Full benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, 10 paid holidays, vacation accrual, sick leave, IRA matching and more.  Heights Water serves a customer base of about 750 connections.

The Water System Operator works with the Operations Supervisor to help administer field operations of the company and ensure compliance with State requirements and company goals in order to provide high quality, cost effective, and dependable water service. Major duties include meter reading, water quality monitoring, assisting in system maintenance and repairs, and customer service calls including emergency on-call duties.

Required skills include strong math skills, accuracy, punctuality, excellent attendance, attention to detail, proven customer service skills, and ability to perform continuous labor including lifting, working in tight places, and working in all weather conditions. Valid Washington drivers license with good driving record and reliable transportation are required. Successful candidate must reside on Vashon Island.

Washington DOH Water Distribution Manager certification (WDM I or WDM II) preferred, although we are willing to train the right person. Successful candidate must be able to obtain Washington WDM I certification within one year of hire.

Starting pay: $25 - $35 per hour depending on experience.
