SUMMARY: 

The Engineering Technician is responsible for providing support to Engineering and Operations departments primarily in AutoCAD and GIS environments; public record searches and information exchanges with public, and regulatory agencies; provides and evaluates data for routine regulatory reports and provides technical proofreading. This position is located in Olympia, Washington until mid-2022 at which time the Olympia and Puyallup offices will merge.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides support to Engineering staff

  • AutoCAD drafting support of Project Engineers

  • GIS support for mapping requests and data collection

  • Performs data transcription, evaluation, error checks, charting, scanning, and filing

  • Develops and maintains Excel spreadsheets and Access databases for data evaluation and manipulation

  • Searches public record and exchanges information with public and regulatory agencies

  • Maintains and improves records retention process

  • Responds to requests for information

  • Performs certain routine regulatory reports/updates

  • Provides data for routine reports and provides technical proofreading

  • Maintains water system records and organizes archives

  • Assists with exhibit preparation, assembly and publishing of Water System reports

  • Commitment to the Company’s Continuous Improvement process

  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree or vocational certificate in a related field or equivalent work experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and Access

  • Proficient 10 key and data entry skills

  • Strong computer skills and/or programming experience desirable

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License

  • AutoCAD drafting experience desirable

  • GIS/database experience desirable

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of algebraic calculations and scientific terminology

  • Knowledge of contemporary office equipment (scanners, copier, plotting, etc.)

  • Process and basic computer troubleshooting skills

  • Excellent hardcopy/electronic filing and data retrieval skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Organized and detail-oriented

  • Deadline driven with high degree of accuracy

  • Ability to be cooperative, effective, professional and discreet

  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service

Salary Range: $52,000 - $93,400
