Description
The Lakewood Water District seeks a service-oriented, collaborative leader for its new Engineering Manager to take on the growing needs of a regional water provider that include the planned design and construction of multiple new groundwater wells and water treatment facilities. The Engineering Manager is part of the District’s six-member senior leadership team that reports directly to the District’s General Manager. The Engineering Manager is responsible for setting engineering standards for the District and the management of multiple key functions of the District including engineering and planning activities for capital projects and developer extensions throughout the District and its wholesale operations.
The Engineering Manager oversees operations in the Pumping and Water Treatment department, working closely with the Department Head and field staff, as well the construction inspection and GIS departments. The Engineering Manager also works closely with the Operations & Maintenance Manager on distribution system improvements. The successful candidate will be a skilled people manager, mentor, and leader with a demonstrated ability to invest in and bring out the best in their team.
The District is a regional water provider with a retail service area of approximately 26 square miles, serving nearly 64,000 residents in Lakewood, Washington. Located forty-five minutes southwest of Seattle, the District is also a wholesale water provider to over 85,000 additional customers, supplying water to the Town of Steilacoom, Summit Water & Supply Company, Spanaway Water Company, Washington Water, and Firgrove Mutual Water Company. The District operates with a 2023 budget of $26.5 million and a team of 35 full-time employees.
Lakewood Water District is offering a salary range of $135,492.55 to $182,914.94, dependent upon experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, group term life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, State of Washington PERS retirement plan, deferred compensation IRC section 457 participation, tuition reimbursement, sick leave, vacation leave, and holidays. A current Washington State Professional Civil Engineering Registration is required.
