The City of Gresham is seeking an Engineering Technician Senior in the Water Division of the Environmental Services department.  This position is responsible for technical engineering support of the City’s ongoing water main replacement program including drafting CAD design and collecting Graphical Information System (GIS) data.  A successful candidate will be responsible for project administration, regulatory and grant compliance requirements, and quality assurance.  The Engineering Technician Senior collects engineering data, performs and or oversees advanced drafting and design work.   This position may perform lead work under supervision and has both administrative and task-oriented responsibilities.  This position will report to the Water Division Senior Engineer. The Water Division Engineering team is a small group of four to five (4-5) engineers and technicians which works integrally with our Operations and Administrative staff to provide high quality water service to our City’s residents.

The Engineering Technician Senior performs a variety of technician-level engineering work including project planning, design, and construction management. These tasks are conducted in support of a mix of small to large sized capital projects, privately financed development, and Water Operations activities.  This position will primarily perform Auto CAD design drafting in support of the City’s on-going water main replacement program. This position may also be asked to perform GIS mapping and database management related to water utility facilities and / or construction project management tasks for water utility projects.

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Associate's degree or higher in engineering technology, survey technology or technician, civil or mechanical engineering, or other related field
  • Three (3) to six (6) years of full-time experience in designing and preparing construction plans, cost estimates, and specifications for public works projects; performing a variety of drafting and design work; conducting surveys for engineering projects; developing and maintaining data layers and spatial data structures using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and AutoCAD tools; responding to and resolves inquiries and complaints regarding engineering projects; or related work

Please note, any combination of education and experience equivalent to five (5) to eight (8) years of qualifying education, training, and/or experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in computer applications for engineering activities including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and ESRI GIS
