The Operations Manager manages a staff of 23. The position is responsible for planning and directing the Water, Sewer, and Building Maintenance and Grounds Divisions and oversees the distribution and delivery of water, and sewage collection and conveyance.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join a progressive utility with an excellent culture. We have 56 dedicated staff members who are passionate about the water and sewer industry, and who work in water and sewer operations; cus- tomer service and meter reading; engineering; GIS; planning, and administration, with an average tenure of 12 years. Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Principles and practices of public sector personnel administration, supervision, and effective customer service practices
  • Current government practices
  • Materials, methods, tools, equipment and practices involved in planning, construction, maintenance, operations and repair of water and sewer systems
  • Proficiency in asset management, CMMS, telemetry, water distribution, and wastewater collection systems
  • Ability to analyze problems, resolve disputes and grievances, and recommend effective solutions
  • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and professionalism
  • Solid business writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to plan, execute, and meet goals within an established time frame
  • Experience with Microsoft Office® products

Experience & Education

A Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent professional level supervisory and managerial experience. The candidate must have a valid Washington State driver license and obtain a Water Distribution Manger (WDM) 4 designation.
