Job Title: Facility Operator Grade 1-2
Hiring Range: $23.23 – $34.59 DOE

Covington Water District has an opportunity for a Facility Operator, Grade 1 or 2, who will assist in the maintenance and operation of the District’s water distribution system, tanks and reservoirs. This position reports to the Field Supervisor, and has no supervisory responsibilities.

•Performs supervised repair, maintenance, and installation of all water distribution system components, maintenance of electronic equipment or systems.
•Assists in the installation and repair of water lines, water main flushing, maintenance on hydrants, valves and P.R.V’s, and preventative maintenance of water storage facilities.
•May respond to customer complaints and assist in running flow tests or inspecting connections.
•Performs varied physically demanding manual work operates hand tools, heavy and specialized equipment to install, maintain and/or repair water distribution systems.

Education & Experience:
Requires high school diploma or GED and 0-4 years related experience. Water Distribution Specialist or Water Distribution Manager preferred. Traffic Control Certification must be obtained within 6 months employment. Requires a valid Washington State driver’s license. Strong preference given to CDL holders. Work hours are Mon-Fri, 7-3:30PM.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires heavy physical exertion and the physical ability to see, talk, hear, feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, grip, push, pull, lift, reach, walk quickly on uneven surfaces, and perform repetitive motions. Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 100+ pounds and/or frequently lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 50+ pounds and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 20+ pounds. Position routinely works outdoors in all conditions. May be required to enter confined spaces.
