The PNWS Water for People committee is active in supporting integrated, sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene projects in designated Water for People focus countries including Guatemala, Bolivia, Honduras, Malawi, and India. In addition, six new focus countries are being added to Water For People's international program - Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Rwanda, Uganda, and Peru. Projects are typically small in scale and rely heavily on in-country, local organizations, and volunteer labor. Our committee also seeks to raise awareness of the Pacific Northwest residents, especially those working in the water supply and related fields, about current conditions in those countries and how we can help.
The PNWS is now a Global Sponsor of Water for People! This past year the Pacific Northwest Section (PNWS) experienced yet another record-breaking year of giving to Water for People. Since 2007, the PNWS achieved the top designation as Global Sponsor of Water for People. This is a great accomplishment and is the result of all the hard work and countless hours put in by volunteers, generous contribution from the numerous corporate sponsors, individual donations, and tremendous support from the PNWS Board. Together we are making a difference!
