WA - South Sound

South Sound Subsection
South Sound Subsection

The South Sound Subsection of the PNWS-AWWA includes the Counties of Kitsap, Pierce, Mason, Greys Harbor, Thurston, Lewis (Except the cities of Toledo, Winlock, and Vader) Pacific (Except that portion lying South of the  East/West line through the mouth of the Nema River excluding the Long Beach Peninsula.)

Many of you are aware that the South Sound Subsection of the Pacific Northwest Section of AWWA has been fairly inactive over the last three years. Looking towards the conference in 2010 to be held in Tacoma, inquiries were made to the Pacific Northwest Section as to why the inactiveness of the South Sound Section. The feedback from a number of people was that there has not been anyone willing to revitalize the South Sound Subsection.

With that being said we would like to announce that Linda McCrea of Tacoma Water, Tim Ramsaur of Pierce County Utilities, Ted Hardiman of Fruitland Mutual Water Company, and Randy Black of Lakewood Water District have all agreed to stimulate, reactivate and promote the South Sound Subsection. To all South Sound AWWA members, look to the future for contact from the South Sound Subsection to participate in the subsection and consider volunteering to move forward and contribute towards a successful and memorable AWWA conference in 2010 in Tacoma.

If you are an AWWA member located in the South Sound, we invite you to join us and restart the Subsection as well as helping with the conference. As you might well imagine there are a number of arrangements and issues to address in hosting a conference. The new officers would appreciate anyone willing and dedicated to not only making the South Sound Subsection a viable part of the Pacific Northwest Section of AWWA but also in contributing to a successful 2010 conference in Tacoma. For more information on how to be active in the South Sound Subsection and/or volunteering for the 2010 conference please contact one of the above mentioned people. You can find all their information under the officers page of the subsection.
